Oral History Archives of Japanese Art

post Partner Website

Established in 2006, the Oral History Archives of Japanese Art is a not-for-profit organization devoted to conducting interviews with individuals involved in the field of Japanese art and collecting and preserving the results as historical documents. As a team of academics and curators working in Japan and the United States, we have conducted interviews with more than seventy people, including artists, critics, curators, scholars, gallerists, magazine editors, administrative officials, and their families throughout different generations. It is our goal to make heard and remembered the voices that would be otherwise lost to future generations, and to achieve a more multifaceted understanding of postwar and contemporary Japanese art.
