Sadia Shirazi

Sadia Shirazi is an independent curator, writer and architect based in New York. Her dissertation focuses on global modernism and contemporary art and architecture. Shirazi’s research examines translation, untranslatability and withdrawal in global art practices that draw from architecture, abstraction and new media. She has curated exhibitions at venues in New York, Delhi and Lahore including the Queens Museum, The Kitchen, Khoj Artists’ Association, and The Drawing Room Gallery. Shirazi has presented her work and led workshops at Cambridge University, The New School, New York University, Beaconhouse National University, National College of the Arts, and Lahore University of Management Sciences and her writing has been published in Art Forum, Bidoun, C Magazine, ArteEast, The Funambulist and Jadaliyya. Shirazi was an artist-in-residence at Clark House in Bombay and Yaddo in New York and is an alumnus of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Independent Study Program. Shirazi holds a BA from the University of Chicago and an MArch from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History and Visual Studies at Cornell University and teaches at The New School in New York.
